Animals have been shown to provide a great deal of comfort and emotional support to those who interact with them. Service dogs, in particular, are trained to help people with a range of physical and emotional disabilities.

At Pine Rivers Private Hospital, we see firsthand the positive impact that service dogs can have on our patients’ lives. Our furry friends not only provide emotional support but also help with physical tasks, making them a valuable asset to a patient’s care.

How Service Dogs Help Patients

Service dogs are specially trained to provide support and assistance to individuals with disabilities. They can help with physical tasks such as opening doors, retrieving dropped items, and providing balance support.  But the benefits of service dogs extend far beyond physical tasks as they can also provide emotional support and help individuals with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Service dogs have been shown to improve patients' quality of life, increase their sense of independence, and reduce the need for medication. They can also improve patients' overall well-being and help them achieve their treatment goals.

We see firsthand the positive impact that service dogs have on our patients' lives.  Patients who interact with service dogs report feeling more relaxed and at ease during their hospital stay. They provide a sense of companionship, and can help patients to feel more secure and confident in their surroundings reducing anxiety and improving patients' overall mood.

At Pine Rivers Private Hospital, we have a deep appreciation and love for our furry friends.    We have a park across the road for regular walks, a grassed courtyard to nip out to if needed and our furry friends are tucked up at night cosy & warm with their owners in their rooms.    We recognise the importance of their role in our patients' lives and the comfort and joy they bring to our hospital environment and to the staff!

We’d like to thank DELTA DOGS for their amazing contribution in the recovery of our patients and the joy they bring to the staff too! You can find out more about DELTA DOGS at www.deltasociety.com.au.
